Donut Heart Bath Bombs

Mold Used - 2.5" Heart Donut Bath Bomb Mold
Ingredients
366g Baking Soda
180g Citric acid
15g SLSA
6g Kaolin Clay
6g Cream of Tartar
9g Grapeseed oil
6g Fragrance Oil
9g Polysorbate 80
3g Witch Hazel (or spritz as needed)
1/8 to 1/4 tsp Red 27 Lake
Directions
In a large bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, SLSA, cream of tartar, and kaolin clay. Mix thoroughly and be sure to break down any clumps. I find it easiest to sift the ingredients (do not sift SLSA). When using SLSA be sure to wear a respirator mask.
Add Red 27 Lake to dry mixture and mix thoroughly with gloved hands.
In a small container, mix the grapeseed oil, fragrance oil, and polysorbate 80 then slowly pour it into the large bowl containing the dry mixture.
In a separate container, weigh out the witch hazel then slowly pour it into the large bowl containing the other ingredients. I find it best to mix with a whisk while pouring. The mixture will begin to slowly bubble/activate but mixing while pouring will minimize this. If spraying witch hazel instead of weighing, lightly spritz witch hazel into the mixture while stirring, just until it holds together when squeezed in your hand. Be sure to not overdo it.
Fill up the mold with the mixture then press. If your bath bomb mixture starts to dry out or your bath bombs break apart, spritz mixture with a very small amount of witch hazel and mix.
Allow the bath bombs to dry overnight then package.
Notes
Grapeseed oil can be swapped for sunflower oil, sweet almond oil or the lightweight liquid oil of your choice
If your space is humid, I recommend using a dehumidifier.
This recipe makes about 8 bath bombs (depending on mold size). I used a 2.5” sized bath bomb mold.
